What moves the numbers

Four things that change turnaround.

Filing season volume

Demand on IRS systems rises through the filing season and around extension deadlines. Standard requests feel this first; expedited paths absorb it better.

Authorization completeness

The largest single factor, and the one you control. A rejected authorization does not extend your turnaround by hours — it restarts it, and it requires going back to a borrower who has already signed.

Data availability by year

Wage and income data posts progressively as payers file their information returns, so the most recent tax year becomes reliably available later than return data.

Planning around it

How lending teams stay ahead.

1Order early when possibleDo not turn an ordinary request into an emergency.
2Use the authorization path that fits the file4506-C, 8821 and SSA verification solve different problems.
3Validate before submissionCompleteness, signature, dates, tax periods and signer authority.
4Distinguish processing from availabilityA request can process correctly even when the newest IRS data is not yet available.
5Check current status before promising the closing desk a dateUse this page for the latest published and observed timing.

Ready when you are

Timing matters when the closing date is already set.

Check the current processing path before deciding which authorization fits the file. If the request is urgent, we can help identify the fastest available workflow for the records you need.
